Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05), Congressman Elijah E. Cummings (MD-07), Congressman John Sarbanes (MD-03), and Congressman Jamie Raskin (MD-08) will hold a press conference in Annapolis on Monday, March 20 at 10:30 a.m., calling on Governor Larry Hogan to oppose House Republicans’ bill to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
Letters from the Maryland delegation to Gov. Hogan on February 3 and March 7 asking for his position on ACA repeal have gone unanswered – at a time when more than 347,000 Marylanders stand to lose insurance coverage.
There's no question that these changes at the federal level would negatively affect our state. Hundreds of thousands of Marylanders, especially low-income residents and seniors, would see costs for premiums skyrocket and access to preventive care decrease. The state also stands to lose billions in Medicaid funding.
