After not having enough votes last Friday to bring the amended bill to the House floor, doubts are beginning to emerge as to whether or not it will be ready for a vote this Wednesday.
In an interview yesterday, the President seemed unclear that he knew exactly what was in the new amendment. This morning, the GOP was expressing confidence that they had enough votes for a vote on Wednesday, but by late this afternoon, that stance had softened considerably. Congress is scheduled to go on recess again this Thursday, and there is already talk of canceling that recess to get the health bill passed.
The Hill is reporting that there are still 22 NO votes, the barrier the GOP needs to get below in order to ensure passage. There are also still an estimated 55 undecided votes out there, so they have a way to go in order to avoid embarrassment by having the bill fail.
