Health Care Reform and Nonprofits: A New Prescription

Nonprofits that serve the uninsured have a particularly valuable role in health care reform.  The open enrollment period beginning on October 1st for the Medicaid expansion and insurance options for individuals from 138 - 400% of federal poverty is fast approaching.  This conference provided Howard County nonprofits a unique opportunity to learn about the Affordable Care Act and Maryland's implementation process and the ways that they could become engaged and involved in a way that supports their own missions.

This event took place: Tuesday, May 21, 2013

No matter what your knowledge level of the ACA, this program is tailored to bring you the most critical and up to date information on not only the health of Howard County, but also the state of health care reform implementation in Maryland. You will hear from leading experts from the Howard County Health Department, Governor's Office of Health Care Reform, the Maryland Health Connection, Healthy Howard - Howard County's new Connector Entity, the Coalition and others who can answer questions and discuss the challenges Howard County nonprofits face. Health care reform implementation is coming soon, so make sure you are ready!  Many thanks to Horizon Foundation for sponsoring and jointly designing this program along with the Coalition, Association of Community Services (ACS), and Healthy Howard.
